"It's a basic truth of the human condition that everybody lies. The only variable is about what. The weird thing about telling someone they're dying is it tends to focus their priorities. You find out what matters to them. What they're willing to die for. What they're willing to lie for."

Shit, I miss playing House here. I really want to rectify this. RL has taken precedence over the past few months for a number of different reasons, but I miss my House!! D=

Revenge is a dish best served with chilli and guacamole

There is no revenge so complete as forgiveness.

If this is true, then Jesus must really have it in for all you Gentiles. (I'd say Jews, too, except for the part where you lot don't believe in Jesus, so his forgiveness-as-revenge ploy would go unnoticed. Mazal Tov.)

Who the hell forgives out of revenge? That's got to be one of the most passive forms of revenge ever. Passive revenge isn't even revenge; it's just gutless. And unsatisfactory. Revenge is about oneupmanship, eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth, satisfaction. How is forgiveness satisfactory when you realise you haven't actually forgiven the person?

You know, when it comes down to it, there really isn't any such thing as forgiveness. As long as you remember what the person did, you're never going to really forgive them. Which means true forgiveness only ever happens in Alzheimer's patients.

So, the moral of this is: forgiveness as revenge is defeat.

I has a blog? Whoops.

Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, "In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." Durante degli Alighieri, better known as Dante, once said, "Silence is boring."

Thought for the day

You know what word I hate? 'Compromise'. I hate how people use that word to try and 'better' a situation that doesn't go in your favour.

"Let's compromise on this." "Try to compromise with me." "In order for this to work, we need to compromise."

Compromise just means lowering your standards to meet the needs of others.

The word 'God' is 'guilt trip' spelt incorrectly.

Do I believe in God or a higher being? No.

All religions are the same: religions are just guilt with different holidays. I get that people like to think their life has meaning, but what I don’t get is why people slave themselves to guilt and ritual over something they don’t even really know exists. Why live your life according to something that has never, and probably will never, be scientifically proven?

The meaning of your life is determined by what you make of it. Not by thin air, not by a book of double standards written by people thousands of years ago whom were all influenced by centuries of already existing religions. Not by some guy who got nailed to a cross to promote martyrdom.

People only believe in God because they want to. If God or any other spiritual being was real, it would’ve been discovered by now. And, you know, for a dude that’s supposed to be omnipotent, supposed to be everywhere, it’s a little strange that he doesn’t show up in Petri dishes.

Life is like a light bulb - you turn the light on, it glows on energy. But it eventually burns out and once it does, that light’s out forever. Life is no different. Me, I was never inconvenienced about not existing before I was born, so why should I be inconvenienced about not existing after I die?

But should God ever happen to turn up in a Petri dish, I’d like to know what took him so long.

Quick note

No, I'm not dead, and neither is my typist. Just internet-less, much to my typist's unhappiness. But I'll be back soon. I'm sure you'll all be looking forward to that.

What's another word for 'thesaurus'?

You know the great thing about risks? If you never try anything new, you'll miss out on many of life's great disappointments. And life has a lot of disappointments to offer.

That being said, some of the big risks people take in life are for the purpose of pursuing dreams - and really, dreams are like rainbows: only idiots chase them. So, for every risk that's been taken in the name of dream pursuits, a village somewhere is being deprived of an idiot.

Of course, then said idiot, in pursuit of their dreams, takes risks. Which them introduces them to life's smorgasboard of disappointments. But that's the nature of rainbows: you want the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain. I guess people would call that unfair, that the world therefore owes them something for all the trials and tribulations they have to face in order to get anywhere in life.

Wrong. The world doesn't owe people anything. It was here first.

On an unrelated note, change is inevitable. Except from vending machines.
